Puglia Dress

This dress features a smocked elastic bodice, ankle length, and spaghetti tie straps with beaded detail. The straps can be tied either on top or back for a versatile look. Made of soft and light cotton/silk fabric, and fully lined in cotton for comfort.

This fabric is made in collaborates with a family of 7th generation master printers in Bagru, India to create their block printed fabrics. Each part of the process of this ancient technique takes place in this community: hand carving blocks out of wood, hand printing the fabric using Azo-free dyes, and washing and setting the final textiles. Nature plays an important role in the process, from mineral rich water and the sun’s rays to plants and the earth, all used in various stages of printing.
