Grounding Rituals Part 2

Grounding Rituals Part 2

As our limited access to our communities continues, it's important that we maintain the self care routines and rituals that we set in place during quarantine. Now, combined with the social unrest happening around us, it's more important than ever to take care of ourselves and our emotional and mental health. Below we expand on our recommendations for keeping grounded and healthy during this time.

Planting for a purpose.

We’re living in a time where we can start to feel lost, hopeless and anxious. It’s so important to look after your mental health by finding little things to keep you going and one way of doing this is caring for house plants or gardening. Personally, I’ve noticed a positive change in my mental health by growing houseplants. Knowing that I have these plants to care for gives me that sense of responsibility and push to get out of bed and start my day.

Social media cleanse.

The tragedies that have unfolded over the last week have been playing on repeat on many social media channels. While it's important to remain active and engaged with what's happening, constantly refreshing our feeds can have detrimental effects on our emotional well being. Being addicted to social media is nothing to be ashamed - it happens to the best of us - but it’s important to keep oneself in check. A healthy way to keep your mind preoccupied is by reading. Go grab that favorite book of yours you haven’t read in awhile or find something new to read. It’ll keep your mind refreshed and away from your phone.

Healthy breakfasts lead to healthy habits.

A healthy breakfast is essential for me. This is easier said than done for a lot of us so always meal prep the night before. This way you can look forward to start your day with that meal you planned. Some healthy recipe books to guide you are Eat Beautiful, The Moon Juice Cookbook and Plant Magic, which can all be found on kaightshop.com

Change up your space.

Staying at home can make you feel stuck and claustrophobic negatively affecting your mental health. It’s normal for us to always want something different especially when it comes to our own space. Spending majority of your day in the same place and not being able to go out will make you feel anxious. The important thing to do is to take a step back, breathe and see what’s in your surrounding environment. Take note of your space and find ways to change it up to make it look new. Get rid of anything you don't want, and start rearranging! My Small Space by Anna Ottum is great guide to redecorate your space even the smallest ones!
