Shibori Workshop At KAIGHT BEACON!
Posted: Mar 04 2017
We're excited to be partnering with our friend, designer and shibori expert Katrin Reifiess, on an in-store Japanese Shibori Demonstration at Kaight's Beacon location.
Join us on March 25 for a fun, complimentary demonstration to learn the beautiful art of Shibori, an ancient Japanese resist-dye technique that involves manipulating fabric to create amazing patterns. Dyeing in indigo, instructor Katrin Reifeiss will walk you through the Shibori technique called Itajime a traditional fold and clamp technique.
Shibori is truly fascinating; every piece you dye is a little bit different then the last. Unfolding your fabric is like unwrapping a present as you never know how the dye will penetrate the fabric and the pattern will come out.
Katrin will be demonstrating Itajime techniques at KAIGHT at 512 Main Street in Beacon, NY on Saturday March 25th. There will be three demonstrations: 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Each demonstration can accommodate approximately 6-8 people. Come create your own indigo dyed bandana which will be provided. Register for one of the demos or just stop by. Please note: space is limited and we cannot promise there will be space available.
We will also be hosting a trunk show with Katrin Reifiess. Select pieces from her Spring/Summer collection will be available for purchase.
